CALL FOR PAPERS

Welcome and Introduction by Professor Chiara Benedetto, President of EBCOG

Welcome to EBCOG 2012, 9-12 May, Tallinn, Estonia.

The 22nd European Congress of Obstetrics and Gynaecology will be held in May 2012 in wonderful Tallinn, Estonia.

Right now, the Scientific Committee is working diligently to compile an exciting scientific programme including sessions arranged by all the major European specialist societies.

Hands-on training and courses have been key elements of EBCOG Congresses over a number of years and they will be even more prominent in 2012. As a new feature, on each Congress day, morning sessions will be devoted to hands-on training and courses. Later in the day there will be plenaries and keynote lectures by the greatest authorities in Europe; and exciting original research will be presented.

In order to facilitate Congress participation and accommodate delegates to design their own daily schedules, the Congress Management Committee has decided to significantly reduce all of the Congress registration fees and combine this with the introduction of a fee for training and courses. This concept has worked well for other organizations; we are looking forward to seeing it work for EBCOG in Tallinn.

Tallinn is a beautiful and very lively city and the visit to Estonia, which is in Europe but still exotic, will be the first for many of us.

Please come and join us for the 2012 EBCOG Congress on 9-12 May.

Professor Chiara Benedetto
President of EBCOG

Welcome and Introduction by Professor Helle Karro, President of Estonian Gynaecologists' Society

Dear colleagues and friends,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee and Estonian Gynaecologists´ Society we are deeply honoured to invite you to the 22nd European Congress of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, which will be held from May 9th to 12th 2012 in Tallinn, Estonia.

Why to come to Tallinn 2012?

Tallinn is in Europe and still exotic. In Tallinn you will find together old history and traditions on the one hand, and bubbling atmosphere with new ideas and modern development on the other hand. Estonia has been recognized as a well developed e-country – Estonia has strong IT infrastructure, there is wide range of e-services, free internet is available almost everywhere and is basically considered a human right in Estonia.

In addition, Tallinn is the capital of culture for all Europe in 2011 presenting numerous concerts, exhibitions and happenings which will extend to 2012.

The Solaris Conference Hall (Nokia Concert Hall) is a state-of-the-art conference centre, and one of the most modern in the World. The congress centre’s world-class technical equipment will help us make the programme exciting and have convenient e-poster sessions.

The congress centre is in ten minute drive from the airport, five minute walk from the Old Town and not more than ten minute walk from the congress hotels.

The heart of the congress is of course the scientific programme, designed in the spirit of previous EBCOG congresses. However, there are some innovations in the programme.

We warmly welcome our young colleagues of the ENTOG in our training centres in order to exchange experience and further develop networking.

The congress registration fee will be lower than those of recent European congresses to enable more participants from different countries to participate.

Besides profound science, the social programme will be a unique opportunity for us to meet each other and will offer endless possibilities to enjoy music and explore the Mediaeval city. There will be surprises in store for you to help you spend the long white spring evenings.

It will be the first time that the European congress will have taken place in Estonia and it is a great honour and challenge for us to host the congress.

Dear colleagues, we look forward to welcoming you in Tallinn!
